Blow the whistle
Order BTW Postcard
Why send a card?
By sending a postcard you are making a bold and outward declaration to the Prime Minister and his government that you care about issues of poverty and justice. You are also stating that your faith informs you on the importance of these issues, that God has something to say about them and that you understand it is the place of government to be setting solid precedents and good examples in these areas. Though sending a card you are also saying that the commitment our government made to the MDGs is important, that you remember that commitment and want to see it honoured.
In Jeremiah the Lord says of Josiah, the King of Judah, “He did what was right and just, so all went well with him. He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” (22:16) We too want leaders who do what is right and just.
What will the details on the card be used for?
Signing the Micah Call is a personal response to the challenge presented by the Old Testament prophet Micah (6:8) and is a commitment to unite as Christians to speak up for the impoverished and marginalised people of the world and to hold our leaders to account to halve poverty by 2015.
As Christians from around the world in signing up to the Micah Call we have the potential to speak out with a strong voice to change government and UN policies.
At a practical level signing the Micah Call is a demonstration of a readiness to be informed of how to be involved in The Micah Challenge.
The details you provide on the card you send back to Micah Challenge will be used to keep you updated with the ongoing movement of the campaign, from updates on new materials downloadable from the website to forthcoming actions you and your church can take.
Not only that, but if you are ready to be a contact point in the church you attend we hope to be able to build a network of local Micah Challenge supporters throughout the country. Finally, by having cards sent back to us, we are able to know how many have been sent to the Prime Minister, thus allowing us to concretely say that poverty and justice are issues UK Christians care about and want to see action taken on
