Global Poverty is a Sin: Why?
Sin is where we as individuals or collectively fail to reflect God’s will. Allowing global poverty to continue is a sin because it evidences our failure to love God and to love our neighbours as ourselves – the two greatest commandments. We sin when we know the good we ought to do and fail to do it.
- Poverty and global injustice are not what God intends for his children
- Poverty is a sin against God’s creation; it limits and destroys lives and mars the image of God in those afflicted
- Poverty is the result of the sins of personal, corporate and national greed and self-centeredness
Global poverty is a sin.
