What are Millennium Development Goals?

There are 1.2 billion people living on less than US$1.25 a day. This is 'extreme' poverty.

In 2000, world leaders agreed this could be reduced by 50% within 15 years, if eight goals were met. These are Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

All 189 UN member state governments adopted the Millennium Declaration, including the MDGs. This is a unique window of opportunity to change our world!

 The eight Goals are:

Each Goal includes specific targets. They do not cover every aspect of poverty but with serious effort they are realistic and achievable. Track the progress on MDG Monitor.

Micah Challenge regards the MDGs as promises our leaders have agreed to. We believe every Christian should Stand Up and engage in these issues as they affect our neighbour, brothers and sisters around the globe.
