Our Vision

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Our vision: A world free from extreme poverty.

Our aim: A global movement encouraging Christians to be committed to the poor and hold governments accountable for their pledge within the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Our mission: A global voice on poverty for Christians. Encouraging you to be informed, to engage and to speak out for justice.

How do we do this? We advocate on the MDGs. We ask leaders to take responsibility for their commitment to halve extreme poverty by 2015. This may mean asking a local MP in Zambia to release funds allocated for health that aren't being received by the community. Or by asking Presidents and Prime Ministers to ensure their global Summit discussions include the poor.

'We' means the Church. Our work is to educate, train and resource Christians to become involved in advocacy. We do this in partnership with the Micah Network and World Evangelical Alliance

To remain relevant to local issues, many countries have their own plans and strategies. They work closely with other civil society groups, i.e. Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) and the United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC).

From an international perspective each country chooses two MDGs to focus their advocacy work on until 2015. We also establish 'global moments' where all campaigns join together for maximum impact.

Finally, we work to provide a global response towards good governance and integrity in both public and private sectors, in high-income and low-income countries.

Our Values

We take our inspiration from the prophet, Micah.

"He has shown you O man what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." - Micah 6v8

  • Share the good news – the whole Gospel of Jesus as revealed in the Bible
  • Show mercy – turn compassion into action on behalf of the poor
  • Fight for justice – speak up for those who have no voice
  • Show humility – walk the talk in our own conduct
